Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a debilitating autoimmune disease that leads to chronic synovitis, systemic inflammation, and comorbidities which together impair quality of life and increase mortality risk. Recent advances in the understanding of RA etiology and pathogenesis suggest that prevention of RA onset in at-risk individuals may be an attainable goal.
