Dr. Jill Maron is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She completed her undergraduate education at Harvard University (Cambridge, MA), receiving her bachelor’s degree in Biological Anthropology cum laude. She earned both a MD and MPH degree in International Health and Development from Tulane University (New Orleans, LA) prior to completing her Pediatrics training at Hasbro Children’s Hospital at Brown University (Providence, RI). Dr. Maron completed her fellowship in Newborn Medicine at the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center.

For the past fifteen years, Dr. Maron’s research has been focused on integrating innovative diagnostic platforms into newborn care. Specifically, she has explored salivary protein and gene expression in premature newborns to better understand development and infection risk in this vulnerable population. She also oversees a national multi-site trial for the integration of rapid genomic sequencing for critically ill neonates. For her contribution to the field she has been awarded a Young Investigator Award from the Perinatal Research Society, and a Young Physician Scientist Award from the American Society of Clinical Investigation. She is a member of the American Pediatric Society, the Pediatric Research Society, and the Perinatal Research Society. She is the current Chair of the Pregnancy & Neonatology Study Section of NICHD and has been funded by NIH for her research since 2009. She has over 50 published manuscripts and editorials.
